Orphan Among PT3 Top Scorers At Sekolah Menengah Sains Sultan Mahmud

                     PT3
While other students are out celebrating their success in the Ujian Pentaksiran Tingkatan 3 (PT3) with their parents, Nurul Huda Zuki could only share the good news with her sick grandmother.
Nurul Huda, an orphan, credited her 71-year-old grandmother’s unconditional love as the motivating factor for her success in obtaining 10As and hopes to become a surgeon in the future.
“My parents died when I was only a year old and then I was raised by my grandmother in Kampung Tapu, near Kuala Berang.
“Though I am sad that my grandmother cannot share my happiness as she is ill, her prayers will continue to keep me strong and my ambitions high,” she told reporter when met at Sekolah Menengah Sains Sultan Mahmud here Monday.
She was one of the 34 students who scored 10 As at the school. There are a total of 102 Form 3 students of which 31 received 9As and 23 others received 8As.
Meanwhile, a top scorer at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sultan Sulaiman, here, said the PT3 examination which was introduced for the first time in the country really tested the mind.
Megat Danial Aizat, who scored 10As, said he had looked for reference materials online and studied hard before the exam.
“The test is challenging and some questions require us to find answers that are out of the box. We have books to refer to for PMR, but there aren’t any books for the PT3,” he said.
A total of 186 candidates sat for the PT3 exam at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sultan Sulaiman this year, of which 129 passed all subjects.
Meanwhile, Terengganu Education deputy director Hashim Mohamad Zin said the result collection process went smoothly despite floods in several districts.
“The students collected their results from their respective schools, however, only Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jerangau could not be accessed from Dungun but there is an alternative road to the school,” he told Reporter here.
